Supplementary Figure 7: Melanophore movement for our Offset rectangles initial condition. (a)–(d)
We present snapshots of the ensemble average number density generated from 1,000 ABM realizations,
(e)–(h) corresponding PDE results with our optimal value of αMM and a mesh resolution of Nbin = 240,
and (i)–(k) error between the PDE and ensemble average ABM density. We overlay cell positions for
one example ABM simulation as a visual guide; we only show half of the region occupied by these
cells. A difference in number density of 400 cells/mm2 corresponds to 0.0625 cells for this choice of
mesh resolution.
The three videos correspond to the temporal dynamics of the ensemble average ABM and PDE solutions, as well as their error. All three videos also have an example ABM simulation (black circles) overlain.
