Climate change and its effects are real. It is clear that there is a general consensus in terms of opinion in the scientific domain on the nature of climate change. It is also widely believed that climate change is as a result of many natural factors altered by human activities on earth. Human activities that affect climate tend to increase with the recent rapid urbanization, the impact is also evidently increasing globally. Northern Nigeria is witnessing a heavy impact of the climate change on elements of National development such as National Security, Food/Agriculture, Water and Health. People are delaying action towards mitigation of the climate change due to number of reasons, lack of knowledge and awareness on its current and future impact on humanity is one of them. This callsfor immediate educational intervention and awareness in order to change thepeople’s attitude and perception to gear up prompt action for saving humanity.Through an extensive literature review, this paper explores the impact of climatechange in northern Nigeria, and discusses the need for educational interventionand awareness based on Architectural perspective as a step in mitigation ofclimate change effects. Among the recommendations of this paper is stakeholder’sintervention on publicizing knowledge and educating people on climate changeand shall be treated the way Covid19 is being treated.
