Earthquake shaking recorded in Reno, Nevada, USA is complicated by the presence of overlapping Tertiary and Quaternary basins having both sedimentary and volcanic fill. A Plio-Plestocene sandstone basin up to 1.5 km deep may be underlain in places by a volcanic basin 1 km or more deep. A USGS-funded study of basin structure from network-station EGFs is starting up in Spring 2016. We will complement the fixed-network study with a few deep ReMi lines of 4.5-Hz Texan recorders 3-10 km long recording urban microtremor, which have already been demonstrated effective in getting the geometry and shear velocity through the sandstone basin. With 100 Texans in longer arrays, we anticipate getting definition of underlying volcanic basins as well.
