The Farnsworth Unit is a carbon capture, utilization, and storage demonstration site located in northern Texas. Some microseismic activity has been identified using a down-hole seismic array over the past few years. With the newly deployed down-hole seismic array and a surface seismic array, the project will characterize microseismic events by calculating the moment magnitude and doing moment tensor inversions. Understanding how the stresses are changing in the reservoir and caprock is vital to understanding the stability and storage of carbon dioxide geologically.
