The Ministry of Environment, Water and Ecological Transition is the Ecuadorian government agency responsible for designing environmental policies and coordinating strategies, projects and programs for the care of ecosystems and the sustainable use of natural resources. It proposes and defines the norms to achieve adequate environmental quality, with a development based on the conservation and appropriate use of biodiversity and the country's resources. From a vision of solidarity with the populations and their environment, it promotes the participation of all social actors in environmental management through coordinated work, thus contributing to consolidate the capacity of both the State and the sectional governments for the democratic and decentralized management of the environmental issue and committing the participation of diverse actors: universities, research centers, and NGOs.
