I hold a diploma and a master's degree in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the Polytechnic School of the University of Patras in Greece. I received my Ph.D. in Data Mining/Machine Learning from the University of Piraeus. Subsequently, I was a post-doctoral researcher at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in the group of Prof. H.-P. Kriegel, joining in 2010 as a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. From 2016 to 2021, I held the position of associate professor of Intelligent Systems at Leibniz University Hannover, and I remain a member of the L3S Research Center today. Before my current role as a full professor of Open Source Intelligence at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, I was a full professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) from 2021 to 2022.My research focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, tackling real-world challenges like non-stationarity and imbalances. I am dedicated to responsible AI advancement, particularly in addressing bias and fairness, enhancing transparency through explainable AI (XAI), and fortifying resilience against adversarial attacks.
