Ana Paula Rodriguez has a degree in History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She has a master's and a doctor's degree in Comparative History from the University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
Her academic trajectory is based on studies on levels of governance in international migration and border management. She started with studies on Spanish borders and their role in immigration policies.
During her PhD, she was a visiting researcher at the Instituto Salvador de Madariaga, University of A Coruña (Spain). Her postdoctoral research at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research in Administration (COPPEAD Institute), at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, was funded by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).
She was a researcher at the Pró-Estratégia Project (2012-2016). She is a researcher for the Pro-Defesa IV Project funded by the Brazilian Ministry of Defense and CAPES on "Modelling and improvement of inter-institutional cooperation for the benefit of integrated security", bringing together the Brazilian Naval War School (EGN), the Command and General Staff of the Army. (ECEME), Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - COPPEAD and Institute of International Relations and Defense (IRID)
As a professor, she was a visiting tutor at the Institute of International Relations at the University of Prata, Argentina (2013), adjunct professor at UFRJ, between 2015 and 2016, invitedecollaborator professor at the Fluminense Federal University between 2019 and 2021, lato sensu postgraduate professor of IBMR University Center. In these institutions, she taught the following disciplines: Migration Studies, Brazilian Foreign Policy, Regional Integration, International Cooperation for Development and Autonomy and Development in Latin America
As a researcher, she worked at the Laboratory of Simulations and Scenarios at the Navy War School, where she led a research group on the study of borders, as well as participating in the organization of simulations and crisis games. She was a member of the Scientific Committee of the Fundação de Estudos do Mar working on Projeto Radar (https://www.projetoradar.com.br/).
She is the research coordinator and co-founder of the InterAgency Institute (IA – www.interagency.institute) and research leader. IA is a digital Think Tank formed by women researchers from the Global South distributed in Europe and the Americas. At IA, he coordinates the line of research "Local Development" addresses the sustainability and regenerative capacity of territories, combined with the use of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence. Its objective is to acknowledge the peculiarities of cities, analyze the resilience of places based on the preservation of historical-cultural and natural heritage, considering the impact of public policies and territorial development strategies, including the integration of migrants.
Brazil
