My research focuses on various aspects of the history, archaeology, languages and texts of ancient Mesopotamia. I am particularly interested in the Sumerian material and in socio-economic, cultural, environmental and agricultural issues of the 3rd millennium BC. At Liverpool, I am supervising MA and PhD dissertations on ancient near eastern studies, and teaching classes on cuneiform languages (Sumerian and Akkadian) and Mesopotamian history and archaeology. I am also the curriculum lead for the undergraduate and the postgraduate taught programmes in Archaeology.
