I am an independent researcher specialising in social-ecological systems, with an interest in human dimensions of natural resource use. I have an interdisciplinary background, where my technical areas of expertise focus on environmental sustainability and conservation, climate change and adaptation, and human dimensions in marine fishing systems. I completed my undergraduate and postgraduate studies in South Africa, where I hold a PhD in Environmental and Geographical Sciences from the University of Cape Town. As a practitioner, I have eight years of experience in coordinating research teams across sub-Saharan Africa (including Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe) and Southeast Asia (including Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam). Over the last four years, I have technically designed, managed and monitored research activities in environmental sustainability and climate change initiatives, focusing on Mauritius and southern Africa.
