As computer scientist and PhD in data engineering, I work as senior scientist for more twenty years in the field of bioinformatics and data engineering in life sciences and lead the team of scientific research data management at IPK Gatersleben. My expertise and research focus is on information retrieval, database systems, and research management for heterogeneous -omics data. My special focus is on standards and infrastructures for data sharing, data mining, big data infrastructures and environmant sensorics systems. I co-working in international standartisation initiatives for plant phenotyping and genotyping data within German, European and international research data infrastructure programs, like ELIXIR, RDA, EOSC, de.NBI and NFDI.
My primary research topics are dedicated to database infrastructures, information retrieval, research software development and Web technology, and research data life cycle systems for plant research data. A special focus is towards FAIR digital objects, devOps and visualisation of genotyping and phenotyping data of genebanks and its exploration. Furthermore I'm responsible to operate the IPK's ORACLE enterprise database backend infrastructure stack.
