Margaret S. Osborne gained her Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) from Macquarie University, Sydney before completing her doctorate of philosophy at the University of Sydney through which she obtained accreditation as a registered psychologist. She completed the Graduate Certificate in University Teaching at the University of Melbourne where she holds the first interdisciplinary position of Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Music (Performance Science). Her desire to support the mental and physical health needs of artists to achieve optimal performance and sustainable careers saw her commence private practice as a performance psychologist and serve as President of the Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare. She is notable for research in music performance anxiety. Margaret seeks to understand how music learning and performance can be improved using self-regulated learning and emotion regulation skills, elucidating best-practice methods to build confidence, health and resilience in order to maximise performance potential.
