Prof. Macellina Yinyinade Ijadunola holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in Public Health from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. She is a Professor of Public health and consultant Public Health Physician at OAU and OAU Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife. She obtained a West African College of Physicians Fellowship in Community Health following her residency training at the OAUTHC, Ile-Ife. She has specialized training in the Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Health Programmes (United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Logistics supply chain commodities (John Snow Inc.). She is an associate Lecturer at the Community Health Department of Osun State University, She is also an examiner for the West African College of Physicians.
Macellina has participated in the development and reviews of multiple national and international technical reports. The 2013 PEPFAR Health Professional Fellowship Program Curriculum (Obafemi Awolowo University and Management Science for Health;
She has worked on adolescent and youth programmes (AYP) for national and international organizations, the OAU Ile-Ife UNILEVER campus Ambassador programme, and the United Nations Millenium Fellowship Fellows programme.
Her research interests are in the areas of Reproductive Health, Social and Reproductive Health she has over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals in Nigeria and Internationally.
Prof. Macellina has won several scholarships, grants, awards, and laurels. These include but are not limited to: The OAU/JHU Bill and Melinda Gate Population and Reproductive Health programme MPH scholarship (2005). the GSK Travel Award (2013), the Johns Hopkins Bill and Melinda Gates Travel Award (2009), and the Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP) travel awards (2019, 2022 & 2023). Research grants from the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) PhD Fellowship (2015- 2019), the principal investigator on the COVID-19 Africa Rapid Fund Grant (2020-2023). Best graduating student of the Though Energy/Proctor Gallergher Insitute "Thinking into Results" programme (2023).
She has served in several leadership positions, including but not limited to: the Coordinator College of Health Sciences Health Leadership and Management programme for graduating students (2019 till date). President of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Osun State chapter (2017-2019).
