I research the effects of context and assessment qualities on teacher and student beliefs and subsequent effects on behaviour and achievement. My research makes extensive use of survey and test data analysed with confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and item response theory techniques.
I am the Director of the Quant-DARE Unit and Leader of the LSPSE group in LDPP at the University of Auckland Faculty of Education and Social Work. I am also associerad professor at Umea Universitet in Sweden, Honorary Professor at the EdUHK, and Bualuang Professor at Thammasat U., Thailand. I am a Fellow in Educational Psychology in the Association for Psychological Science.
