Cristina Manuela Sá has a PhD in Didactics obtained at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) in 1995 with a thesis entitled “Comics: a narrative language at the service of the teaching of Portuguese as a mother tongue”.
She has been teaching in the Department of Education of this university since December 1985. Besides teaching Didactics, she is also a supervisor for teacher trainees in Early Education, Primary School, 2nd Cycle of Basic Education and teaching Portuguese as a mother tongue and French as a foreign language.
She is a member of the Research Centre “Didactics and Technology in Education of Trainers" since its foundation, in 1994, and the coordinator of the Research Group 1 (Languages, Discourses and Identities) since 2019.
She coordinated LEIP/Laboratory for Research on Portuguese Language Education since its creation, in 2004, till its extinction, in 2021. Presently she is a member of the Laboratory of Language Education (LabELing), also integrated in the Research Centre “Didactics and Technology in Education of Trainers" of the University of Aveiro.
Her main interest in what concerns research is the transversality of the mother tongue, linked to the development of competences in oral and written communication to promote education for global citizenship (ECG) and for sustainability , a theme that she explores both in financed research projects and the scientific direction of PhD theses and master dissertations and also in her teaching or
supervising of teacher trainees.
Portugal
