I come from a diverse background of psychology and mentoring, French teaching at the secondary level (with an emphasis on technology), the study of critical pedagogy in the classroom, and, most recently, combining my love of genealogical research with mass communication theory.
Drawing from this latter interest, my research is encapsulated in the idea that who we are today—as individuals, as groups, and as a society—is greatly influenced by those who came before us, and that this influence increases as we seek to better understand the past. And given that our window to the past is provided by the media that has been left behind, media effects research is sure to play a role in making sense of the expected and unexpected effects of such exposure.
