Director of Research Environment Alliances, Springer Nature. 21 years of scholarly publishing experience with Springer Nature, including 11 years as a journal editor, followed by 10 years in senior management roles within editorial and publishing.
Currently responsible for building alliances with research institutions and community organizations who are working to improve the way research is done through initiatives that contribute to better research ethics, rigour and integrity, more effective and fairer research assessment, greater academic diversity, equity and inclusion, support for those working in interdisciplinary research, international collaborations, and those seeking solutions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Prior to this, I led a team responsible for the development and implementation of editorial and publishing policy across the entire Springer Nature journals portfolio, development of our DEI strategy for our journals and books programmes, engagement with our 60,000-strong external editorial board members, community engagement with the Zapnito community platform, and for overseeing Springer Nature’s involvement in strategic publishing initiatives for peer review, reviewer recognition, research integrity and similar. Was also responsible for coordinating our content response to current events, including the COVID-19 crisis and #BlackLivesMatter.
