I am Professor of Economic Policy at the Department of Economics and Management and at the School of International Studies of the University of Trento (Italy). Since 2021 I am the Vice-Rector for Organisational and Resource Planning of the University of Trento. Since 2024 I am a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Trento.
I hold an MSc in Economics from the University of York (UK, 2001), a two-year DEA in International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva (Switzerland, 2003) where I also accomplished my PhD studies in International Economics in 2007.
My research interests fall in the areas of International Economics, European Economic Integration, technological progress and labour.
In addition to the journal articles listed below, I also published other contributions. In 2003, together with C. Wyplosz and H. Genberg, I wrote the widely quoted report "How Do Central Banks Write?" (IMCB and CEPR, Geneva-London) and in 2008 I co-authored the book "Le sfide della globalizzazione. Storia,politiche e istituzioni" (Francesco Brioschi Editore, Milan), adopted as course textbook in several Universities in Italy. In 2013 I authored the entry "International Economics" for Oxford Bibliographies in International Relations, Oxford University Press (New York).
In 2014 I started serving as Associate Editor of the journal “Economia Politica – Journal of Analytical and Institutional Economics” published by Springer-Il Mulino.
In 2012 I was granted a Jemolo Fellowship by the Nuffield College, Oxford University, to spend a three-month research period at the College. In 2014, I visited Seikei University, Tokyo (Japan), as research fellow at the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies.
During the period October 2016 - December 2020, I was the Director of the School of International Studies at the University of Trento. From mid-2015 to September-2016, I was Deputy Director of the School of International Studies. In the period 2013-2016, I was the Coordinator of the two-year Master’s Programme in European and International Studies (MEIS) at the School of International Studies.
