Pedro Dinis Gaspar has a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Professor in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering of the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Portugal. He is an integrated researcher at the R&D Centre for Mechanics and Aerospace Science and Technologies (CMAST), researcher at the Food4Sustainability CoLab and a collaborator researcher at the ALLab - Assisted Living Computing and Telecommunications Laboratory, Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT). He has supervised several Ph.D. Thesis and M.Sc. dissertations. He is the Coordinator of Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Beira Interior. He is also the pedagogical coordinator of several Vocational Education and Training (VET) promoted by AFTEBI.
He has authored, co-authored or edited several books and book chapters, as well as more than 280 papers in international journals and conferences proceedings, and submitted twenty patents. He has been involved in the organization of several national and international events (member of the organizing committee or organizing chairman) such as conferences, congresses and workshops.
He has served as a TPC member and reviewer for a number of international conferences and peer-review international journals.
Also, he has participated/coordinated several national (FCT and other funding sources) and international research projects (EU and other regions) as well as in R&D&I contracts with industry. He has been the global coordinator of the consortium of several partners projects to analyse the occupational health and safety, energy efficiency, production management, training needs in the agro-food industry. Currently, is the global coordinator of a project researching sustainable technological solutions for the agro-food industry.
